The Morning Star has long been a favourite pub in the West, and we won’t lie – Mamma couldn’t be happier to see it in the capable hands of Stephen, Matt, and Aaron. Naturally, we were front and centre when the doors reopened, and wow, the makeover is pretty special.

Hotel Mexico is an exciting new venture from the clever guys behind Grazeland in Spotswood and their favourite Mexican eatery, El Taco. They have delivered authentic Mexican vibes, delicious Mexican street food, complemented by a bar with over 50 varieties of tequila. And that's not all. Weekends will feature live DJs!

We're more than a little excited about this one! Hotel Mexico is almost ready to throw open their hacienda doors to the West! We were lucky enough to get a little sneak peek and while we can’t reveal all the details just yet, trust Mamma — it’s going to be nothing short of awesome.

This cozy old pub in the Wombat Forest in Blackwood is rich in history - opening in 1868 at the height of the Gold Rush. This great old pub has a lovely ambience - with the fire place and couch area in winter and the deck out the back under the old oak tree in the warmer months.

Navi Lounge gives us access to what’s behind the velvet curtain, without the long booking list, and still with the opportunity to try Chef Julians famed fare.

The space is stunning - not surprisingly. It is dimly lit, but the afternoon suns shines through the sheer curtains, and you know you are somewhere special.

Named after the mystery and magic of the fermentation process, Black Arts Brewery is a local hidden gem like no other. We have met many local Westie folks doing great things and owner Josh is not only making great beer, gin and ciders, but he lives and breathes the art of creating an amazing beverage!

If you live in Kingsville, then you’d already know about this place. Flocks of families and brew loving folks have already discovered the newest micro brewery in the west and as Mamma does, we stumbled upon Barbarian and its beacon of yellow and stayed for a few hours - they now have a full kitchen!

.Well this is a genius idea. La Bodega is a barber by day, craft beer bar on Saturday nights!

Top notch craft beer bar, bottle shop and deli right in the heart of Spotswood! Yes, please.

Housed in a rustic old farm shed and nestled under the grand old trees is The Whiskery. It is basically a cellar door - but it’s not basic - you can grab a table and spend some time here at this lovely spot taste testing the amazing gins they make here, plus they have started their own whiskey range of course!

If you know Footscray then you will know this building. The Dancing Dog lived here once upon a time and now we are so happy to see Mamma Chen’s has taken up residence here.

When you need a cozy Westie joint to have an adult conversation, relax with a wine, oysters and cheese board at West Footscray Wines.

Come for a brew or two and stay for the afternoon! The Cavalier Brewery and Taproom is a fantastic westie gem.

Whatever the occasion - The Fancy Parrot is colourful, relaxed and great fun.

In hops we trust and now you can too with a visit Hopheads Bar in Yarraville. Creating a great atmosphere with some fantastic beer is what they do here.
