Now for something completely different….Go Shooting Clay Target Shooting is not your average day out but wow it is FUN.
Situated out the back of Werribee, owners Russell and Lauryn Mark opened the business over 20 years ago. This husband and wife duo have some serious shooting credentials - with Russell an Olympic Gold Medallist and ‘Best in History in Olympic Double Trap’, and Lauryn Mark a triple-Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist and dual Olympian (all the other instructors are also impressive too) - so they really know their stuff - and how to teach it. Not only are they knowledgable and professional but we had so many laughs and so much fun. Lauryn had us shooting double shots in no time! Take that clay pigeon!
*For those that don’t know, the targets are moving clay discs about the size of a hand, that shoot out from bunkers in different areas of the field, which the instructor sets off after you yell ‘Pull’.
You will start with a lesson and warm up so you get to know how to shoot, follow through, and get used to that recoil. Then you can have a 20 shot competition where you shoot from about 5 different spots - first singles then doubles.
Mamma loves to try something different and really enjoyed this experience. They take safety seriously here so you can rest assured they have taken every precaution to keep everyone safe.
Oh, and there are plenty of families (must be over 12) and women who come here, and there are female instructors so it’s not just for the guys!
Mamma’s special mentions: It is situated on the outskirts of Werribee (Quandong) so just head into Werribee for a bite to eat at the Bridge Hotel afterwards for a debrief!
