/BAKER BOY, SOMETHING FOR KATE, ART VS SCIENCE, MONTAIGNE WILL PERFORM AT ILLUMINATE THE RIVER, A FREE ALL-AGES FESTIVAL RAISING MONEY FOR FLOOD RECOVERY THIS WEEKEND AT THE MARIBYRNONG RIVER .
Moonee Valley City Council and the Victorian State Government’s live music re-invigoration program On The Road Again have produced the spectacular nine-hour event that features multi-platinum selling artists, ARIA award winners and triple j mainstays, as well as a plethora of family-friendly activities.
Yolngu superstar Baker Boy, iconic Melbourne trio Something For Kate, electronic dance mavericks Art vs Science, art-pop singer and Eurovision representative Montaigne, indie-pop singer Mia Wray and kid favourites the Teeny Tiny Stevies lead the charge of artists who will descend upon the main stage beside the Maribyrnong River in Aberfeldie. Home-grown and local acts will round out the bill, performing on two additional festival stages.
That’s not all on the cards – the day will also feature carnival rides, kids’ activities, food trucks, a beer garden, and a Box Wars
Mamma’s special mentions: While the day out is FREE – Illuminate The River will be giving flood recovery organisations the opportunity to raise much-needed funds during the festival. While you’re enjoying live music, food trucks and kids activities and more, you’ll notice QR codes around the festival grounds where you can choose an organisation to donate to.
You can donate to GIVIT, the SES Essendon Unit or both! Volunteers in the Essendon SES Unit have looked out for Moonee Valley and surrounding communities since 1981. More recently they coordinated the evacuation and rescue of residents when the Maribyrnong River flooded. Here they are preparing sandbags at Windy Hill after the recent floods! Legends! GIVIT has been helping those impacted by the recent floods directly. This organisation matches donors directly to those in need or uses 100% of donated funds to purchase items requested by who need them. Make sure you dig deep and give to one of these fantastic organisations while you’re boppin’ around at the festival!
