THE BEST places to eat with kids IN SUNSHINE!
/ Siobhan RelfSunshine and neighbouring suburbs Sunshine West and Sunshine North are vibrant destinations for some seriously yummy food. Lots of these eateries are welcoming to and perfect for eating out with kids. It might be because they have a play area like Sunshine Social, offer high chairs like Lazat or just serve delicious food.
Whatever the reason you’re heading out in Sunshine, here are some of Mamma’s ideas for the best places to eat!
Hailed as one of the food critic’s go-tos when eating at in the West, Xuan Banh Cuon serves delicious Northern style Vietnamese dishes. This is Mamma’s destination for a quick and cheap eat you know is going to be filled with flavour!
We just love the relaxed dining, amazing food, floor seating and huge outdoor space to play at the NEW Tinkune Momo & Sekuwar House in Sunshine!
Aside from a really fun word - Lukumades are irresistible Greek pastries – hot, doughnut-like balls with a crispy outer layer and a soft interior. So squishy and so delicious and now in Williamstown!
Every suburb deserves a Korean BBQ joint, and now Sunshine finally has one. As with all Korean BBQ, sets are the way to go and at Chingu there are 2 people and 4 people sets. Choose from wagyu, beef, pork or mixed sets and order sides like kimchi soup, cheesy corn, dumplings and bibimbap. Of course, pickles and dips are on tap. Yum!
Us Westies LOVE a new bakery, especially one with brilliant sourdough, hot pies, delicious pastries and fragrant coffee like the NEW ✨ All Rise Bakery ✨ in Sunshine North!
Now serving breakfast and lunch! Sunshine has heaps of pizza joints: they serve deep pan pizza with layers of toppings but here at Zona, we finally welcome thin Italian pizza to the lineup. Three weeks in and it’s already super popular. Mamma and the kids loved it - it’s very tasty.
We LOVE a super friendly neighbourhood cafe and this one in Sunshine fits the bill! Generous and tasty dishes with a kids menu too, high chairs, indoor and private courtyard seating.
Celebrating rotisserie meats with some great veg and sides options too, Sunshine Social, a much loved Mamma fave, has just been elevated! Mamma and the kiddos loves the food here - it is always damn delicious and the super relaxed vibe and big kid play area makes this a must-go for families wanting a great feast (incredible value too.)
Sunshine is a great suburb when you want good food, and stopping in for a meal at Gojo is going to leave you seriously satisfied. Delicious, wholesome, tasty Ethiopian fare is served up a-la-carte with either rice or injera. Mamma’s kiddies loved dipping the yummy injera into the saucy serves of wot. (There are plenty of non-spicy options for the little ones.)
H2O Happy2Go has some of the best fried chicken in the West - succulent, crispy and served with amazing sauces. Plus there’s super soft baos with super fresh fillings and gyoza - and it all pairs perfectly with bombastic bubble tea!
Gotcha is new in town at Sunshine and farms their own tea, made fresh to order. Inside a wonderful aroma surrounds you as you pour over the menu including all the favourites as well as a Japanese Style Yogurt series.
Everything is dialled up to the max here: from the spices and flavours, to the love and compassion. Cafe Sunshine and SalamaTea is a social enterprise run entirely by refugees and people seeking asylum, specialising in Persian cuisine.
Wasshoi serves Japanese grill street food… think sticky, soft, charcoal infused meat that sit atop divine bowls of flavoursome ramen and don, and stuffed into tiger rolls like a Japanese banh mi. Delicious veggo options too!
Are you a cream strawberry lover? Mango ice queen? Nuts for coconut milk tea? Or maybe just a simple green tea tickles your fancy. Whatever you love, Mr. Panda has a million squillion choices of bubble tea!!
Relaxed dining with delicious food and an enclosed space with a playground. What more could Mamma ask for?! Lazat in Sunshine has been serving up a great deal of tasty Malaysian food for happy families for many years, and the playground is a great feature for fun dining in. Choose to sit right next to it or stay inside knowing they are safely enclosed. There is even a little water feature with a few fishies swimming around, which is great fun for the kids to try to spot!
Come for the weekend specials, or the taro frappe and leave with a box full of the FAMOUS colourful cream puffs.
Well, Mamma and the family have been coming here for so long it's easy to take for granted. It is our fave and one of the best place to grab some Pho and other delicious traditional Vietnamese food....and coffee!
