PLAYING UP takes the form of a game played by adults and kids together.
Children, grown-ups, families and friends are all welcome to this event over the school holidays.
Pick a card, follow the instructions, create your own piece of Live Art, and perform it.
Anything goes - Remote control your parents, start a protest, barrier tape any space, build what-happens-next-machines!
PLAYING UP is essentially an artwork by SIBYLLE PETERS of Theatre of Research, exploring how Live Art can bridge generations and suggest different ways of looking at the world.
Presented by The SUBSTATION and MELBOURNE FRINGE. Published and produced by the LIVE ART DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (UK), THEATRE OF RESEARCH (Germany), and TATE EARLY YEARS AND FAMILY PROGRAMME (UK).

Oktoberfest, the famous German Festival is coming to the West and Mamma is super excited!
Inspired by the traditional Bavarian festival and great beer, Oktoberfest in Williamstown sees the amazing and newly renovated Seaworks transformed into the biggest undercover beer hall on our very own waterfront.
The whole family can enjoy the authentic German and international food stalls, roving performers, a marvellous mix of entertainment, rides and market stalls throughout the afternoon and evening at the family friendly time is 12pm - 7pm.

James Henry
James Henry is a singer-songwriter, composer and sound designer known for his unique fusion of traditional Aboriginal and contemporary musical genres. His unique approach allows him to explore musical landscapes spanning from Techno to full orchestral compositions. James has worked on numerous theatre and dance productions, and his compositions have been performed by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Choir and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. His recent fellowship focused on the revitalisation of First Nations languages through song.

TEK TEK Ensemble perform virtuosic and original music inspired by tropical jungles, late night discos, and 1960s chic.They captivate audiences with exclamatory trumpet, hedonistic violins and organ, deeply pulsating drums and bass, wild psychedelic electric guitar and synthesizer, and a rich smearing of harmonized singing thrown on top. TEK TEK Ensemble formed in 2010 and have performed countless times around Australia and the world.
Yusupha Ngum and the Affia Band
One of Gambia’s favourite sons, Yusupha Ngum, leads all-star line-up the Affia Band to deliver an Afro odyssey of jazz, blues and funk fusion that leaves audiences elevated and captivated. The sound is a melting pot of Afro flavours peppered with traditional elements, jazz, funk and brought together beautifully with world class musicianship.
