Playing Up - Mamma Knows West

Mamma loves The Substation in Newport. As part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival these school holidays The Substation plays host to another fantastic family friendly FREE event for us all to enjoy!

PLAYING UP takes the form of a game played by adults and kids together.
Children, grown-ups, families and friends are all welcome to this event over the school holidays.

Pick a card, follow the instructions, create your own piece of Live Art, and perform it.

Anything goes - Remote control your parents, start a protest, barrier tape any space, build what-happens-next-machines!

PLAYING UP is essentially an artwork by SIBYLLE PETERS of Theatre of Research, exploring how Live Art can bridge generations and suggest different ways of looking at the world.

Presented by The SUBSTATION and MELBOURNE FRINGE. Published and produced by the LIVE ART DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (UK), THEATRE OF RESEARCH (Germany), and TATE EARLY YEARS AND FAMILY PROGRAMME (UK).
