Anna has operated her store Elysian Creations in Vernon St, South Kingsville for almost 10 years. Trained in the art along with silversmithing, she sells her handmade vintage inspired pieces right here in the Western suburbs. Anna specialises in bridal pieces, tiaras, brooches, bracelets, elaborate earrings to gorgeous simple yet stunning lace hair combs. Think 'The Great Gatsby'.

Intriguing name! How did you come up with that? The meaning of elysian is 'divine' and I really want to make exactly that. Divine jewellery.

What's exciting you about your business at the moment? I am about to start running jewellery classes at the shop, I've been doing jewellery making workshops for underprivileged kids for a few years and really enjoy that. I also ran a small class for the local kinder and was more than surprised at the excitement the young kids had for it, including the boys!

I'm feeling really excited about starting these classes. I can teach people to be creative - anyone can make something, if you can tie a knot you can make jewellery.

What has been the biggest shift for your business from pre-family to now? Despite having a very supportive partner, having children now has left me with little time to really focus on the retail business side of Elysian. We still do a lot of bridal work in store which is fantastic. The classes will allow me up to be at home more whilst still allowing me to to combine my need to create and share my love of designing and creating.

What keeps you motivated? My desire to design. I love being a mother and it's so important to me to have a creative outlet and share what I love doing with others, including my kids.

One more thing! What's your favourite thing to do in the West? Grab a coffee at the Duchess of Spotswood or take the kids to Edwards Reserve in South Kingsville.
