the punt, spotswood

This little boat is a hard working vessel ferrying passengers from Spotswood Jetty to Westgate Landing in Port Melbourne across the bay under the Westgate Bridge. The passengers during the week are mainly commuters and on weekends it's packed with people going for a bike ride to and from the West - Mamma and the fam just like going over and back for a little joy ride on weekends - It's a bit of a novelty for the kids going UNDER the bridge instead of over it and a good opportunity to take in some pretty awesome views of cargo ships (if you are lucky) and the bridge.

You can do the journey on foot too if you like -  it takes no more than 20 minutes round trip.

Mamma's special mention: Why not visit Scienceworks while your nearby? Or if you feel like cycling some more this is where the Maribyrnong River Trail begins - or go the other way and connect with The Strand in Williamstown.
