laverton market, laverton
/This market has stood the test of time. After over (40 years of trade Since 1974) they still get the crowds. Every Saturday and Sunday (except Christmas Day). Mamma says this the biggest market of its kind in Victoria and a westie 'must visit'.
Please note! You won't find any beetroot relish or sourdough bread or handmade bespoke jewellery but you will find cheap veggies, plants, plenty of tracksuit pants and hot jam donuts - you'll have to queue up for those. In fact, you will find so much random stuff that it is lots of fun to sift through - stuff that you never even knew you needed!
Mamma loves the character of this place, a reminder of what markets used to be like, full of character and plenty of interesting bargains.
A bit of history here: The market is situated in the old Village Drive In in Laverton and you can still see the skeletons of its past life in the abandoned kiosk and the old lake (which is full of bird life) that has seen better days.
Mamma's special mention: Need a lovely feed after all that? Head to Cheeky Chewies with the fam!
