the local cafe, footscray

Simple and simply the best. We've been eating Banh Mi in this neighbourhood for a long time, and we can say from the heart – this is one of the best we've had.

The rolls are the perfect balance of soft and crunchy, the fresh chilli is hot and flavourful, and the meats (or tofu!) are cooked to perfection..

The Best Banh Mi in Footscray at The Local Cafe on Moore Street a converted milk bar.

Located on busy Moore Street in Footscray, this old milk bar – just off the main strip of Barkly Street – has been serving up Banh Mi since June 2024. The buzz is building, and we know exactly why.

Aside from the Banh Mi, The Local Cafe also serves up brekkie rolls, pastries and amazing cofee too. Their Viet iced coffee is yum. The service is lovely and if you have time to eat in there is a large communal table and window seats to watch the hustle and bustle go by.
