gordon st bakery, footscray

Footscray’s need for crusty French bread and viennoiseries knows no bounds.

Gordon St Bakery first set up as a dine-in cafe, then moved out the tables to make way for more ovens servicing take-away pastries and bread to a very hungry crowd. This still wasn’t enough!

In 2022, the beloved bakery moved across the road and upgraded to a double frontage to pump out more goodies to insatiable Westie crowds! AND NOW they are open Wednesdays too (with limited items - coffee and a few pastries).

But guess what? They still sell out! So you must get in early. Well, all Mamma can say is we look forward to the day Gordon St Bakery occupies the whole strip.

You know as soon as you enter Gordon St Bakery that this is an authentic, and very French, bakery. The welcoming and comforting aroma of browned butter and caramelised sugar greets you at the door - and it’s the scent that you can only get when all the products are made in house, and actually, right in front of you.

Chef Wil came to the West from Paris, by way of Perth and then St Kilda, and now we are the lucky locals who get to have him creating his flaky masterpieces here at his own bakery! Choose from croissants, palmier, cheese twists, cookies and, of course, baguettes and sourdough. The coffee here is wonderful as well.

Take your treats home to the family, or scoff them as you walk back to your car!
