david's hot pot, point cook
/Mamma and the fam LOVE a hot pot for some hot soupy dipping deliciousness!
Now - *for those of you who haven’t done hot pot before make sure you read below for some tips and a bit of an explanation.
For those that have - you can expect the same amazing tasting soups and a great variety of dipping food - some more adventurous options here too but we stuck to the more traditional food that we all know and love.
This place is fun, the decor is great, the staff are very helpful and friendly, and hot pot is definitely something different than your average dining experience! Oh and some nights on the weekend there is a roving peformer1
*Ok so you haven’t been to Hot Pot before?
- You will be handed a menu on arrival - choose your soup base first - we had the 2 options mushroom and seafood (kids don’t do spicy).
- Then scan the menu and tick off what you would like to cook IN the soup - yes you put the raw food in the hot soup to cook.
- On the menu there is a suggested time that the food needs to cook for in the soup (so make sure they give back the menu so you can refer back).
- Then before you get your soup head to the sauce table to get your soy, hoisin, chilli and any other condiments you love.
- Coming in HOT AND STEAMY - be careful the soup does get very hot, there is a dial at the side of your table to turn down the soup to a simmer BUT make sure the kids keep their hands clear!
- We ordered marbled beef, dumplings x 2, corn, prawns, some potato noodles and lotus chips which filled us all up (4 of us), and with drinks cost about $150.
- The staff are friendly so ask questions if you need to It does get a bit chaotic with kids but just go with it and ENJOY!
- oh and serviettes are located in the drawer on your table!
