Discover the sticky nature of water and some of the amazing tricks it can do in Scienceworks free summer amphitheatre show! Look on in disbelief as water defies gravity, travels on a tight-rope and performs other spectacular sticky tricks. Be prepared to have a splashing fun time learning about the special properties of water and why it’s so important
Tycho Goes to Mars | Daily
In our brand-new planetarium show, Tycho Goes to Mars, our favourite cheeky dog with a knack for getting into trouble is finally blasting off to discover the red planet, Mars! Join Tycho and his new friend Oppy to learn all about the major features of Mars, including the ancient volcano Olympus Mons and the canyons of the Valles Marineris, as he searches for water to fly his steam-powered space kennel back home!

The Water Hunt | Daily
Gather your wits about you and go on a hunt for Wanda the water droplet! We’ve hidden clues all around Scienceworks for you to explore and uncover. And while you’re at it, you might begin to notice that science is all around us! Can you spot all the Wandas and figure out the secret code to discover the prize?

Fulldome Flicks | Sundays 4.30pm January and February
The whole family can enjoy fulldome movies at the Melbourne Planetarium this summer! Fulldome Flicks is a showcase of fully immersive family-friendly movies on the dome. Journey through the land of dinosaurs, marvel at coral reefs, fly into space, and go on a magical adventure! Each screening also includes the popular What’s in the Sky Tonight (WITST) presentation, a presenter-led tour through the night sky.

Augmented Reality in the Learning Lab | 4 – 25 January
Now you see me, now you don’t! Enter the hidden world of camouflage and watch as stealthy snow leopards hide, ghostly geckos disappear and cunning katydids slip into the undergrowth. In this 1.5 hour innovative workshop, 6-12 year olds and their accompanying adult can work together to create augmented reality face-paint inspired by patterns in the natural world – in particular, the complex art of camouflage!

Butterfly Workshop | 6 – 22 January
Become a crafty butterfly expert this summer in our school holiday workshops developed for children aged five to eight! We’ll be colouring five Victorian butterfly species with scientifically drawn features, and turning these into a special mobile that you can hang up at home. Please note, we will be using permanent markers, pencils, scissors, thread and paper. We recommend not to bring any child under the age of four into the workshop space.

21 Tiny Dinosaurs | Daily
21 Tiny Dinosaurs are scattered around Melbourne Museum on the lookout for their friends! Each dinosaur has a letter – find them all to crack the code word and reunite them with their prehistoric pals.
