geelong botanic gardens geelong
/Yes, here is yet another botanical garden to add to the picnic list!
Mamma LOVES botanic gardens - the history, the lovingly tended to greenery, the exotic plants, we are so lucky to have so many in our midst. These gardens opened in 1851 and are the fourth oldest in Australia after Sydney, Tasmania and Melbourne. They have evolved over the years, some old structures still (luckily) remain - like the conservatory that is currently being renovated and the pit glass house - and some have disappeared (like the wooden fernery) but the beauty and grandeur still remain.
The addition of the very cool arid zone and the tea house are fantastic. Stop into the tea house as they serve delicious simple food like cakes, muffins and pies and of course cold drinks and coffee of bring your own picnic and relax under the trees.
Make sure to discover every section, path and corner as you go on your expedition around the gardens!
